Private domestic adoptions

Lutheran Services Carolinas provides adoption services to both birth families and adoptive families.

Expecting and don't know what to do?

Adoption is a courageous decision to give your unborn child a head start in life. LSC specializes in connecting expectant parents -- birth parents --  with highly qualified individuals seeking to build their family through private domestic adoption. Adoption allows expecting parents the opportunity to secure a stable, supportive, and nurturing home for their unborn child.

Considering adoption? One of our experienced private adoption counselors is just a phone call away. LSC is here to listen and provide you with information you need to make an informed plan for your unborn child. Shoud you decide that adoption is the best option, we can assist you with developing an adoption plan and choosing the right adoptive family

All services are free to expectant parents and completely confidential. If you would like to speak to one of our highly trained staff, please tell us a little about yourself so we can more effectively assist you.

LSC helps support birth families through the adoption process by:

  • Providing pregnancy options counseling. We are here to provide you truthful information on all your pregnancy options, including information about the realities and benefits of adoption.
  • Providing supportive services. We can help determine whether or not you qualify for financial assistance with costs related to your pregnancy. We will help you secure appropriate medical care, counseling, emotional support, legal advice, housing and anything else necessary to meet your needs and relieve your anxiety.
  • Assisting birth parents in developing their adoptive plan. Do you prefer an open or closed adoption? What do you prefer in an adoptive family? We are here to support you in all the decisions of your adoption plan.
  • Acting as liaison between the birth and adoptive families. We can help you choose the best adoptive family based on your preferences.
  • Offering post-placement support and referrals. We are here to help you anticipate the grief and loss that is a natural result after adoption. We can help you plan and prepare to be better equipped during this transition.
