Trinity Living Center to Host May 6 Breakfast Program on Virginia D-Day Heroes the “Bedford Boys”

Salisbury, N.C. — Like so many Americans, the young men of Bedford, Virginia (population 3,200) were called up to serve their country in World War II. They landed on Normandy’s Omaha Beach on D-Day — and 20 lost their lives that day. Bedford had the highest per capita loss of any town in the United States. On Monday, May 6 at 9:00 a.m., Kenneth Parker, director of the Bedford Boys Tribute Center, will share the amazing story of Bedford and its heroic sons during a community program at Trinity Living Center, 1416 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue South, in Salisbury.

“Some Gave All: Remembering D-Day and the Bedford Boys” provides an opportunity to reflect on the selfless sacrifice, tragic loss, and astonishing resilience of small-town America as the eightieth anniversary of D-Day approaches.

“It’s impossible not to be moved by the story of the Bedford Boys,” said Beth Huber, executive director of Lutheran Services Carolinas’ Trinity Living Center, a community-based adult day service. “As our World War II veterans pass on, it is more important than ever to remember what they gave to preserve our freedom.”

The free program, presented by Trinity Living Center and sponsored by Trellis Supportive Care, is suitable for adults and children ages 11 and up. Breakfast will be served. To register, contact Andrea Moore at amoore@trinitylivingcenter.net by April 29.
